You Can't See Your Roof From the Ground

Most people don't think about their roof until something makes them think about it. A stain on the ceiling. A few shingles in the yard after a windy night. A neighbor who just had theirs replaced and mentioned yours looks about the same age. Suddenly you're standing in the driveway squinting up at something you can't really see, wondering if it's a problem or if you're imagining it.

From down there, a roof that's nearly done can look fine. A roof that looks rough can have years left. The only way to know is for someone to get up there, walk it, and look at the things that actually matter — the granule loss, the flashing, the nail lines, the condition of the decking underneath.

Not knowing is the problem. Not the roof — at least not yet.

An Honest Look, and a Straight Answer

We do free roof inspections throughout Centre, Clinton, and Lycoming Counties. We get on the roof — not a drive-by, not a look from a ladder at the edge — and we go over it carefully. Then we tell you what we found.

Sometimes that answer is that you need a new roof. Sometimes it's that you've got a section of flashing that needs attention and another eight or ten years of life left otherwise. And sometimes it's that your roof is fine and you can stop worrying about it. We say all three of those things regularly, because all three are true sometimes.

We're a local company in Howard. We run our own crews and we live in the same towns as the people we work for. That makes it a lot easier to just tell you the truth than to sell you something you don't need and then run into you at the grocery store.

If your roof has life left in it, we'd rather tell you that than sell you a new one.

What We're Looking For Up There

Shingle Condition

Curling, cracking, missing tabs, and granule loss in the gutters are all signs a roof is wearing out. Age matters too — but a 20-year-old roof in good shape is a different conversation than a 12-year-old roof that's failing.

Flashing and Penetrations

Chimneys, vents, skylights, and valleys are where most leaks actually start. Flashing fails long before shingles do, and it's often repairable on its own.

Decking and Structure

Soft spots underfoot mean water has been getting in for a while. We check for it, and we tell you if we find it — it changes what a repair or replacement involves.

Ventilation

Hangers fasten into the fascia with screws, spaced for our snow loads — not nailed in and hoped for. A properly hung run doesn't sag under a February ice load.

Gutters and Drainage

Every run is pitched to the outlet so water actually leaves. No standing water, no mosquito breeding, no ice sitting in the low spot all winter.

Storm Damage

Downspout count and placement are figured off the roof area feeding them, and discharge is aimed away from the foundation — not just dropped at the corner because that's where the corner is.

What an Inspection Looks Like

Three steps, about an hour, no charge and no obligation at the end of it.

Step 01

We Come Out and Get On the Roof

You call or schedule online, and we set a time that works for you. When we get there, we get up on the roof and walk it. There's no charge and no obligation attached to any of it.

Step 02

We Check What Matters

Shingle condition and granule loss. Flashing around chimneys, vents, and valleys. Nail lines, soft spots in the decking, gutters, and ventilation. We also look inside at the attic when we can, because a lot of roof problems show up there first.

Step 03

We Tell You What We Found

We walk you through it with photos, in plain language. If there's a problem, we explain what's causing it and what your options are — including the option to wait. If we quote work, you'll know exactly what's in the price.

[Placeholder — Inspection-specific customer testimonial needed. Ideally a quote about being told the roof was fine, or about the clarity of the walkthrough.]

Common Questions

Is the inspection really free?

Yes. No charge, no obligation, and no pressure at the end of it. We'd rather earn the work by being straight with you.

What are the early signs I need to replace my roof?

Granules collecting in your gutters, shingles that are curling at the edges or cracking, dark patches where the granules have worn away, and shingles that have gone missing after normal weather. Inside, look for stains on ceilings or in the attic. Age is a factor — most asphalt roofs in this area run 20 to 25 years — but condition matters more than the number.

How long does an inspection take?

Usually 45 minutes to an hour for a typical home, depending on size and complexity. We'll take longer if there's something worth looking at closely.

Do I need to be home?

It helps, but it isn't required. If you're there, we can walk you through what we found right then. If you're not, we'll send photos and go over it by phone.

How long does a roof installation take?

Most residential roofs are a one- to two-day job. Larger or more complex roofs can run longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline before we start.

What do I need to do to get ready for an inspection?

Nothing. If we're checking the attic, clear a path to the access hatch. Otherwise just let us know where to park.

Will you tell me my roof is fine if it's fine?

Yes. That happens a lot.

Do you inspect after storms?

We do — that's a big part of what we look at this time of year. If you think you've taken damage, see our storm damage repair page. If you already know where the water is coming in, our roof leak repair page covers what's next.
